Kaiser Class
Officer Rooms
Staterooms on the Kaiser Class T-AO vessels are significantly larger than those on the T-AKEs and are generally considered above average within the fleet. The captain’s room and one other stateroom are located on the 06 level. The Chief Engineer and all other engineers have their rooms on the port side of the 05 level, which is also where the other officers’ rooms are situated. The T-AOs feature a single house located aft, and they have a personal elevator that runs from the upper levels down to the engine room.
Unlicensed Rooms
Chief Petty Officers are located on the 04 level, along with some other unlicensed crew members. Only a few crew members need to share a bathroom, thanks to the ample number of rooms compared to the crew size. The living situation becomes even more spacious if there isn’t a military detachment on board.
Mess Deck
Due to the smaller crew size, the mess decks are a little smaller; however, they are adequate for the amount of people on board.
Lounge
Each deck has a lounge with a coffee pot, sink tv and some will have ice machines. a
Ships Store
T-AOs do have a space for a ship store. It is typically larger than the ship store found on T-AKEs.
Gyms
The exact setup of the gym on a T-AO varies by ship. Typically, the main gym is on the same deck as the steering gear room and is a decent size. Some T-AOs may also have a small workout area on the 06 deck, though this space might be repurposed by the Captain or Chief Mate for other uses.
John Lewis Class
Officer Rooms
The officer rooms on the John Lewis class ships are similar to those on a T-AKE, featuring full-sized beds, with department head rooms being slightly larger. As usual, the officer quarters are located on the 05 and 06 decks. A unique feature of the John Lewis class is the use of key fobs instead of physical keys.
Unlicensed Rooms
The unlicensed rooms on the John Lewis class ships also use key fobs and are similar to those on T-AKE vessels. Chief Petty Officers are housed on the 05 deck, while the remaining unlicensed crew members are on the 03 and 04 decks. If your room is on the 03 deck, you will likely need to share a bathroom.
